Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information the Vibio mobile app and website (together, "Vibio", "we", "us") collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Vibio is a dating and friendship service for people aged 18 and over. By creating an account you agree to this policy.
Who is responsible
Vibio is operated by the app's developer. For any privacy question or request, contact support@vibio.live.
Information you give us
- Account details: email address and password (stored only as a secure hash), and your date of birth (used to confirm you are 18+ and to show your age).
- Profile content: your display name, photos, bio, gender, who you want to meet, hobbies, hair colour, and city or country you enter.
- Messages and activity: the messages, photos, and game answers you send to other members, and reports you submit about other members.
- Purchases: when you buy Vibio Bucks, Google Play processes the payment. We receive a purchase confirmation token and the product bought. We never receive your card details.
Information collected automatically
- Approximate location: with your permission, the app reads your device location on launch and sends the coordinates to our server so we can match you with people nearby and show approximate distance. Coordinates are rounded before storage and are never shown to other members. Location access is required to use Vibio.
- Device and technical data: a session token to keep you signed in, and standard request information such as IP address and app version, used for security and to operate the service.
- Push notification token: if you enable notifications, a token from Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can deliver alerts about matches and messages.
Website statistics
When you visit vibio.live, we count page visits to understand how the website is used. For each page view we record the page, the website that linked to it (only its domain), whether you use a phone or a computer, the country your IP address belongs to, and how long the page was open on your screen.
- No cookies: the website stores nothing on your device and does not use cookies or similar identifiers for these statistics.
- No IP addresses stored: your IP address is only used at the moment of your visit to look up your country in a database on our own server, and to create a one-way code that lets us count unique visitors per day. That code changes every day, so visits cannot be linked across days or traced back to you.
- Not shared: the statistics are only visible to the Vibio team in aggregate, are never combined with your app account, and are not sent to any analytics or advertising company.
We do this based on our legitimate interest in understanding and improving our website. Country lookups use IP geolocation data by DB-IP.
How we use your information
- Create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- Show your profile to other eligible members and show you theirs.
- Match you with people based on your preferences and approximate location.
- Deliver messages, photos, games, and notifications between members.
- Process in-app purchases and maintain your Vibio Bucks balance.
- Detect, review, and act on disallowed content and abuse reports.
- Diagnose problems, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations.
- Count website visits and how long pages are viewed, to improve vibio.live (see Website statistics).
Automated content checks
To keep Vibio safe, profile photos, names, and bios, and photos in conversations that a member reports, may be checked automatically for disallowed content using a third-party processing service (Replicate). Content identified as disallowed may be hidden and queued for human review. These checks process the content only for moderation and do not build a profile of you.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:
- Other members: your profile (name, age, photos, hobbies, approximate distance, city or country) is visible to members who meet your and their preferences. Your email, date of birth, and exact coordinates are never shown.
- Service providers who process data on our behalf: Google Play (payments), Firebase Cloud Messaging (notifications), Replicate (automated content checks), and our hosting provider.
- Legal: if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Vibio, our members, or the public.
Data retention
- Profile and account data is kept while your account is active.
- If you delete your account, your profile, photos, connections, games, and messages are permanently removed. Reports you submitted are retained without your account identifiers so safety records stay intact.
- Photos in conversations are automatically deleted after 180 days.
- Website statistics are automatically deleted after 400 days.
- Expired sessions and stale technical logs are cleared on a routine schedule.
Your choices and rights
- Access and correction: view and edit your profile and preferences at any time in the app.
- Deletion: delete your account and associated data from the profile screen in the app.
- Location: you can revoke location permission in your device settings, but Vibio cannot be used without it.
- Notifications: turn push notifications off in your device settings.
- Requests: email support@vibio.live to ask about the data we hold about you or to request its deletion.
Security
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. Photo URLs are time-limited and signed. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
Vibio is only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we remove it.
International transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries outside your own. Where that happens, we rely on the providers' contractual safeguards for such transfers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be communicated in the app.
